I love bands like this with a female lead singer. I think most of the time, I prefer the female voice when singing with this type of music. I’ve listened to Within Temptation for years but for some reason just now started listening to Nightwish. Good stuff.

Nightwish is one of my favorites. Unfortunately they have trouble keeping lead singers around, and the vocal styles are vastly different for each. Their old stuff with Tarja Turunen was very operatic. I think their best overall album is probably “Once”. I haven’t heard a whole lot of their newest stuff since Anette left, but I’m excited to see where the band goes, as they have such a great sound.

Yes. Once is the album I’m listening to now and it’s magnificent. Tarja also has a solo career and some of her music is really good too. I just love her voice.

Check out Lacuna Coil if you haven’t already as well. Plenty of great female led rock/metal bands about.

I LOVE Lacuna Coil. Saw them in concert with Killswitch Engage a few years ago.

NIghtwish is like Van Halen people are generally in one of two lead singer camps: Tarja or Floor. Personally they are different styles but I’ve been a fan of Floor since she fronted After Forever (close to 10 years ago).
